Zoe is a software engineer, computer science educator, and creative technologist. She is particularly interested in how the collection, movement, and regulation of data shape our digital rights.
She was a Principal Engineer at the Applied Social Media Lab (ASML), where her work focused on advancing platform transparency and consumer privacy. Zoe earned an undergraduate degree in Computer Science and a Master's in Artificial Intelligence from Stanford University, and completed a Master's in Interactive Media Arts from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. She began her career at Facebook, working on content moderation, news identification and ranking, journalist protections, and community support tools. She later helped build Column, a public benefit startup that facilitates the public notice process for local newspapers across the US. Zoe's artistic practice explores the potential harms of modern technology, aiming to make them tangible to the public.
